Remember however, great a job and vocation it is, in the end its not the be all and end all of life – get a non-medical outside interest/ hobby so you can take your mind off the job for a while. it keeps you fresh and stops you from burning out.

Even if you’re tired, make sure you keep up with friends and family. Work is a temporary part of life but friends and family should be forever.

Take care of yourself in order to take the best care of your patients. Exercising, eating well and getting enough rest are really important however busy you are.

Always remember that the patient does not want to be ill and that they are probably very anxious or afraid for themselves or for a loved one.
